I'm a strong believer in the power of beauty to elevate any experience, especially when it comes to dining out. Every detail of the dining experience influences guests perceptions of what a restaurant is trying to embody, and if done well, can leave them feeling inspired.
Fourteen years experience in the restaurant industry and a lifetime of crafting served as a jumping off point for the creation of Tabella. I get great satisfaction from creating products that feel sturdy in the hand, look good on the table, and function intuitively.
I am a locavore and believe in supporting my neighbors and community. Working with small local suppliers for my creations, buying sustainably harvested wood and recycling bi-products whenever possible has allowed me to have a very small carbon footprint.

Our
Story

Tabella was created in 2013 in San Francisco  where  I (Monica ) had been waiting tables for years. I had been making my own server books, and my co-workers and friends wanted to buy them, so I obliged. When the owner of the restaurant I was working in  wanted a large order to present their checks in, I got serious and apprenticed under a professional bookbinder. The very next client misunderstood what I did and asked for an order of wooden products. I took the challenge of learning a new medium and collaborated with my partner, Zephyr, to fill the order. We have been doing this work ever since!
